Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about therapy with Zahra Psychology
Can you integrate faith or spirituality into therapy sessions?
Absolutely. I welcome discussions around faith, spirituality, and cultural values as part of the therapeutic process. If this is important to you, we can work together in a way that respects and integrates these aspects of your identity.
Will I be judged or criticised in therapy?
Absolutely not. Therapy is a space for honesty and exploration without shame or judgement. I aim to create a safe, accepting environment where you can talk about anything that matters to you, even if it's painful, confusing, or difficult to express.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We'll talk about what's brought you to therapy, your goals, and any questions you have. It's also a chance for you to see if you feel comfortable working with me.
How long does therapy last?
The length of therapy varies depending on your needs and goals. Some people benefit from short-term work (6-12 sessions), while others prefer longer-term therapy. We'll regularly review your progress together.
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you share stays between us, with some limited exceptions where there are serious concerns about safety. I'll explain this fully at the start of our work together.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes, I offer both in-person and online sessions. Online therapy can be just as effective as in-person work and offers more flexibility for many clients.
What if I'm not sure therapy is right for me?
That's completely understandable. The free 15-minute consultation is a good opportunity to ask questions and get a sense of whether therapy might be helpful for you, with no obligation.
Still have questions?
Feel free to get in touch. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.
